Château Morrisette Viognier Blue Ridge Foothills 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

This Sauvignon Blanc has the traditional aromas of cut grass followed by melon, orange, pear and apricot with tropical notes of passion fruit and mango. Jasmine and other floral aromas add interest to the wine. The balanced acids give this wine a wonderful mouth-feel, with the predominant flavor of grapefruit.

Lovely if very fruity on the nose with good intensity to the classic honeysuckle, peach and honeydew aromas that show a bit of an Orangesicle sweetness to them. In the mouth, this is somewhat small-scaled, bright, juicy and livel, with clear, classic if slightly simple Viognier flavors of orange cream, honeysuckle and candied peach. Not complex or fancy and a touch short, but still quite attractive. 87pts

Great wine. Very good pairing with vegan food. Highly recommended, if nothing to expand your horizons....

Sweet. Allspice and nutmeg season the ripe peachy fruit aromas. Clean, juicy, fresh peach qualities on the palate make this another successful quaffer for those who like it sweet.

In this vintage to be remembered, about two-thirds of the grapes were sourced from the cool Central Coast region of California, where early spring rains led to a bit of Noble Rot in just enough grape bunches to add a touch of complexity and richness to the wine. Tangerine, mango and clean aromas of orange spice join with pineapple, baked pears and hints of tell-tale cinnamon, common to Gewürztraminer. This wine can be zesty, and flavors of clove, orange and caramelized apples come to the fore. - WineryTotal Acidity: 0.69 grams/100mlpH: 3.02Residual Sugar: 3.20 grams/100mlAlcohol: 11.75% ABVFermented in Stainless Steel Without Oak Aging ** SOLD OUT **

Sometimes it seems that our white wine industry could become a Chardonnay monoculture. It's good to see that Fetzer isn't abandoning their efforts with other varietals. Sweet peach, mild lychee and spice aromas open this unabashedly sweet and easy wine, with its tangerine flavors and slight spritz on the round palate. Not very complex or sophisticated, but broadly appealing.

Fans of our Fetzer Gewurztraminer won't be disappointed withthis vintage. Rich, fruity and clean aromas of orange spice join with pineapple, baked pears and hints of tell-tale cinnamon. The wine can be zesty, and flavors of clove, orange and caramelized apples come to the fore. One wine writer described our Gavurz as a 'Two WoW Experience: great tasting and great energy.' I like that.

Aromatic rose petal, lychee and candied lemon peel notes give way to ripe peach and dried pineapple flavors. A juicy acidity balances out the candied fruit flavors.

Deep golden straw colored, with a nose of dried apricot, spicy peach, a touch of rose petal and honeysuckle. In the mouth, crisp green apple, honeyed apricot, and peach flavors meld with the traditional spicy flavors of Gewürztraminer. This medium-bodied wine's off-dry style strikes the perfect balance between its sweetness and bright, crisp acidity.
