Château Montrose Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe 2002

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: Known as the Latour of St Estephe for its dense powerful style and ageing
potential, Montrose has produced an immensely appealing wine in 2002. Similar
in style to its 2000, this Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wine (62%) boasts rich
yet elegant ripe smoky blackcurrant and cherry fruit of great balance and
purity. The finish is extremely long and creamy with mocha hints and soft
tannins courtesy of the large dash of Merlot (32%) in the blend. Drink
2009-2014.

An elegant yet richly fruited style of Montrose with medium body sweet notes of black fruits leather dried herbs and earth this round wine is not profoundly concentrated but is well-made with excellent depth ripeness and overall length. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2016. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Very pretty aromas of blackberries, spices and milk chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied, with a solid core of fruit and a silky mouthfeel. Still tight but refined and long. Just as I remember.--Non-blind Château Montrose vertical. Best after 2008. 12,5... Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2002 Montrose 750ml
