- ($40) Good bright yellow. Yellow fruits, spearmint and honey on the nose. Juicy and intensely flavored, with very good acid cut to the apple and lemon flavors. Not yet complex but this has density and a silky texture-not to mention firm spine-and should reward a few years of patience. Barrett pointed out that leaf roll virus in one of the chardonnay blocks has the effect of delaying the ripening, allowing the fruit to mature at low sugars levels (in this case, just 21.8o Brix).
