Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Nose: earthy/barnyard, black olives, smoky wood, red fruit/plums, becoming more meaty/rich with air. Palate: lively acid, red fruit, black olives, dried bitter herbs (thyme, rosemary), plums, becoming more rich/meaty with air. Drying tannins. Moderately long on palate. Initially, the nose seemed to deliver more than the palate, but improved with air.

Seems to deliver more on the nose than the palate, though airing helped.

I would have to say a pretty solid effort out of Chateau Mont Redon. This is the first time i have ever had any of thier wines. I found the nose to be a little smoky...a touch of black pepper and a little funky. And behind all of this was deliscious strawberry notes from the grenache. Def an old world style with the fruit in the background. Super light color almost Pinot noir like. Light to medium bodied with solid structure and sneaky tannins. Somewhat of a weak finish however which was a little disappointing.
