Château Millegrand Minervois Fut de Chene 2008

Member Review by GrantC:

For $14 this is perfectly respectable Languedoc wine. Nice nose with blueberry aromas. Starts a little sweet, but has a nice long, bitter, astringent finish. Some nice, even blueberry flavors but lacking a little something. A little too much on the bitter side. Definitely benefited from some time to breathe and open up, but I think the Carignan and Mourvedre grapes really overtake this wine. Overall, however, I'd say it seems a little bit unbalanced. I would probably try a different Minervois before I went back to the well here.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
