Bernard Lartigue, a farmer’s son, fond of the earth, nature and merely of the vine decided in 1973 to give up polyculture and specialise in vinegrowing. He was aware it would be a difficult task and a long-breathing challenge. The one-hectare vineyard - originally vinified at the local co-operative had to be extended. In 1982, he chose to vinify himself 30% of his crop. Encouraged by his success, he built a 2000 hectolitre fermenting vat and handled the totality of the yield. His main and only aim : quality. Today, he owns a 14 hectare-vineyard estate in Listrac (Château Mayne-Lalande) and 5 hectares in Moulis (Myon l’Enclos). His latest achievement : a magnificent oak barrels cellar - breath-taking vision where he caters for dinner parties - matching traditional local recipes to wines from his estate. Read less
