Chateau Marquis D'Alesme Becker was a third growth in the famous 1855 wine classification.It is one of the oldest estates in the Medoc,the vineyards were laid out in 1585 by the Marquis D'Alesme and the first record of the property is in 1616.In the 19th century it was owned by a Dutchman Jan Bekker Teerlink who added his middle name to the name of the Chateau.The 20th century saw a s... Chateau Marquis D'Alesme Becker was a third growth in the famous 1855 wine classification.It is one of the oldest estates in the Medoc,the vineyards were laid out in 1585 by the Marquis D'Alesme and the first record of the property is in 1616.In the 19th century it was owned by a Dutchman Jan Bekker Teerlink who added his middle name to the name of the Chateau.The 20th century saw a series of owners including the Zuger family and it was bought by the Perrodo family in 2006 who have instigated a programme of improvements and also dropped the name Becker.There are 15 hectares on three plots.The Grand Vin is 65% cabernet sauvignon 30% merlot and 5% petit verdot and spends 18 months in oak barrels.There is also a second wine called Marquise D'Alesme Read less

A soft, fruity wine, with blackberry, coffee and light vanilla on the nose and palate. Full, with very velvety tannins and a long, flavorful finish. This is right on the mark now. Best after 2010.
