Château Malescot St. Exupéry Red Bordeaux Blend Margaux 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

"This is absolutely fabulous. I love the complex aromas of ripe fruit and fresh flowers that turn to mineral and raspberry, along with tannins on the finish. This changes all the time. Full-bodied and dense, but so beautiful and long. The layers of ultrafine tannins just turn off the tip of your tongue...97-100" WS 04/10 "The length on this wine is phenomenal with gorgeous blueberries and blackberries that last for minutes on the palate. It might be the greatest MSE ever. Can it be better than 2005? Excited to see on it evolves. Barrel sample. 95+" JamesSuckling.com 1/11

An inky/purple color is followed by notes of Asian plum sauce, forest floor, creme de cassis, black raspberries and a floral component that is unusual for a Margaux. A wine of exceptional intensity and purity with a full-bodied, sumptuous texture, lots of fresh vibrancy and excellent definition, this beautiful 2009 exhibits high but sweet tannin. It is more sexy than the 2005 was at a similar age, although their level of extract and concentration is relatively equal. Something about the 2009 reminds me of a Margaux version of St.-Julienandrsquo;s Leoville Poyferreandhellip; if that makes any sense. Anticipated maturity: 2018andndash;2040.

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. Beautiful nose of crème de cassis, mocha chocolate, black cherry, and liqueur followed by rose petals and creamy vanilla. Does that sound intoxicating? Well it is...Medium body wi... Alex Lallos. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2009 Malescot-St-Exupery 1500ml
