Château Lynch-Bages Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: Almost as good as their awe-inspiring 2005. Since winemaker Nicolas Labenne
joined Lynch-Bages from Calon-Ségur the wines here have been better than
ever; no longer the `poor man's Mouton' but increasingly almost as good!
Impressive, aethereal aromatics and some serious minerally cassis set the tone
for this rich, silky-textured Pauillac with oodles of sweet black cherry and
blackberry essence and coffee hints. With George Clooney-like charm, a ripe but
substantial tannic structure, and an intense, mouthwatering long finish this
respects the vintage but definitely outperforms it.

In the 18th century, Count Jean-Baptiste Lynch, mayor of Bordeaux, inherited the estate and handed over management to his brother Michel Lynch, who was also mayor of Pauillac during the French Revolution. Jean-Charles Cazes, highly respected in the Médoc for his experience in viticul- ture and winemaking, bought the property in 1934. With his son André, he devoted all his energy to Lynch-Bages for more than 35 years. In 1974, his grand-son Jean-Michel Cazes set about restructuring and managing the estate and recently, in 2006, handed over the running of the property to his son Jean-Charles. Read less

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Herbaceous with green tobacco on the tight, slightly hard, woody nose – tight on entry, focused with juicy, ripe tannins, bright acid, polished if a touch lean on the mid-palate, yet full of ripe fruit on the backend, needs some time but everything is here and in proportion (87-88)

A beguiling bordeaux that isn't shy about its vanilla oak. Spiced plums are impossible to miss and the style is far from flamboyant, but reserved with a handful of grip on the finish. Classically pair with a fat ribeye steak and sautéed onions. Ranked 5th Cru in 1855 classification.

Thick in the glass with a dark purple core and fuchsia rim. Coffee aromas up front backed by dark cherry and blackberry fruits with lighter violet and floral notes. Roasted coffee palate entry as well. Fairly chewy tannins although pretty refined. Ti... Mike Supple. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2007 Lynch Bages 750ml

Purple color of good intensity. Fresh and fruity nose. Fruity rounded and suave on entry. Developing tasty on the palate with a medium body and a good length this wine is rather made of aromas than power. Coated tannins. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com
