Château Lilian Ladouys Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe 2009
A true Bordeaux value. This has all the classic Estephe character: big, up front and in your face. Big, mouth coating, ripe tannin presence supports brambly fruit and plum with touches of rosemary and cedar in the nose. This would be a great wine for CA cab drinkers looking to venture into Bordeaux.
On the toasty, more modern side of the spectrum with ambitious roasted fig, apple wood ... Best from 2013 through 2024. -JM
Our group compared the 09 next to the 10. The 2009 is the better of the two. Opens up nicely, fruity with a lovely finish. Decanted for 3 hrs prior. Very nice for a young wine. Surprisingly our Cali Cab snobs (Bordeaux virgins), really enjoyed it :)

[Barrel tasting] Dark color, with a spiced nose of cloves and cardamom. Tar too. Full-bodied, with round and velvety tannins and a rich, fruity aftertaste. Gorgeous young wine.
On the toasty, more modern side of the spectrum, with ambitious roasted fig, apple wood and blueberry confiture notes followed by racy graphite, espresso and blackberry pandacirc;te de fruit. Not shy, but has the density for balance. Best from 2013 through 2024.
