Château les Trois Croix Red Bordeaux Blend Fronsac 2005

Member Review by ANewVine:

Simultaneously gorgeous and handsome. Big nose of spice and cedar box up front... backed by blackcurrants. Full-bodied, big & long tannins, well-balanced. Long finish.

Chateau Les Trois Croix is one of the very ancient properties in the Fronsac region of Bordeaux' right bank. Its cellars date back to 1772, and its 33 acres of vineyard are on the highest hill in the region. Planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc the vines have matured to anverage 45 years of age, giving the grapes concentration and complexity of flavor. This 2005 is aged 16 months in oak barrels, two thirds new oak. It scored 90 points in the Wine Spectator who said “Has a pretty nose, with blackberry, flowers and licorice-tainted mineral. Full-bodied, with dense fruit, fine tannins and a long, minerally finish. Best after 2010.”
