Chateau les Pagodes de Cos Bordeaux 2010

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

From an assemblage of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon 38% Merlot this is a brawny focused and straight forward style of wine. In the mouth the wine is tannic fresh and filled with dark berries. Prats called this vintage a severe style of Pagodes that requires time. Jeff Leve.

Picked between 27th September and 10th October the Pagodes is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot delivering 14.13% alcohol with a pH of 3.51. The Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the nose with blackberry pencil shavings a touch of plum and fine mineraliti. The palate has great tension on the entry with a citric freshness very good weight and yet it glides through to a harmonious finish. This is a lovely Pagodes. Drink 2012- Neal Martins Wine Journal.

62% cabernet sauvignon 38% merlot. 45% of the production goes into this second wine of Cos d Estournel. Average yield is 38 hl/hectare and alcohol is 14.13%. Modern and clean the nose reveals creamy blackberry and blue fruits graphite spring flowers and a touch of sauvage. Lots of minerality here with a nice attack of plus concentration of brambly blackberry that peaks to a crescendo of black raspberry on the tight and focused mid-palate. One of the better second wines of the vintage. Andy F

Bright loganberry and blackberry fruit pumps along while hints of licorice root singed apple wood and charcoal chime in on the finish. Pleasantly firm open and accessible this is engaging and lively but a bit shy on stuffing overall. Drink now through 2023. -JM Wine Spectator.
