Château les Ormes de Pez Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

"By far one of the most consistent and best value St. Estephe wines
around, the 2001 Ormes de Pez is already exhibiting hints of maturity with
elements of leather, tobacco and chewy spice. There is good fruit to this too
and it is certainly still prominent - black cherries and some red fruit
too. This is a good option for those that want a 'maturing' claret
but don't want to break the bank."
(Mark Ross, Fine Wine Commercial Manager)

My New Year's Eve wine. Incredibly good. The cassis fruit is so pure it was like a laser to the taste buds. The fruit was followed by very pretty leather with a little vanilla oak. The finish went on and on. Not really comparable to the 1996 Mouton from Thanksgiving, but it's one tenth the price. Very much in the same style, but lacks the complexity of the Mouton.
