Whilst it may have been a pleasant enough vintage ten years ago, the '75 Ormes de Pez is now a lifetime away from its best. Any traces of ripe fruit have long since departed and in their place an acidic, bitter hue hogs the wine and offends both the palate and the nose. The elegant and balanced structure I have witnessed in more recent offerings from this Chateau are replaced in the '75 by an awkward, rusty introduction followed by a gereatric hit of bitter, over the hill harshness similar to a low quality port.
