Editorial Reviews for Château les Ormes de Pez
Smoky and autumnal on the nose with rich brambly fruit, dried herbs, slightly gamy notes that frame the lovely perfumed core of wild berry fruit, - gently elegant entry, transparent fruit, mouthwatering acids, fresh and crisp feeling, to the red currant fruit with hints of juniper, not a powerhouse but elegant, balances fruit and mineral note through the moderately long finish (89-90)

very rich early aromas with intense notes of dark fruits and raisin. Tanic note is soft and I found almost no acidity. A very good surprise
Nose of currant and pie cherry that turns to coffee, chocolate and spice as the wine opens up. The palate is similar and really grows with time in the decanter. Pretty dry on the first day with a real tart lingering finish. On day two the finish has really mellowed out and matches the nose and palate.
Floral red fruit nose Spicy twang. Lots of tobacco flavors with a touch of fruit (black currants). Smoky finish.
Appearance: Clear, deep ruby with very little variation between core and rim, with legs. Nose: Clean, medium intensity developing aroma of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, liquorice, sweet spice, black pepper, oak and a savory note suggesting good maturity. Overall nose is not particularly complex and quite typical of wines coming from the region. Palate: Dry, with medium acidity, exhibiting a ripe and powdery medium level of tannin. Medium alcohol level with a medium plus body. Medium intensity flavor of blackberry, black cherry, chocolate, smoke, charred wood, earthy and sweet spice notes. A good intense and ripe fruit flavor showing the wine coming from a good vintage. Supple mouth-feel and overall good balance. Length is a bit short at medium minus level though. Conclusion: Acceptable quality level mainly due to the short length, but the wine is showing a good balance and reasonable complexity of the characters on the blend of grapes. Ready to drink now, with the maturity characters already showing, thus will not improve too much and should drink within the next 1-2 years.
Rich in flavor, smell of fruit and flowers

Some very old ormes (elm trees) which no longer exist account for the name of this property, whose history can be traced back to the 18th century. The 35-hectare vineyard is located around the hamlet of Pez and is divided into two main plots, in the centre and north of the commune of Saint- Estèphe. Ormes de Pez has very homogeneous soil (a clay gravel mixture typical of Saint-Estèphe) and many of the vines are quite old. The grapes are hand-picked. After selecting the vats and blending the wine is aged in oak barrels for 15 months. Designated a crus bourgeois exceptionnel in the 2003 classification, Château Ormes de Pez has a new label illustrating both the estate's renaissance and the elegance of its wine.
*2012 Bordeaux Future. Delivery Fall 2015.* Good acidity along with fresh, clean cut red and blue fruits characterize this straightforward, meaty, fruity offering. It lacks some concentration, complexity and overall gravitas, but it does offer good fruit and ripe tannin in a medium-bodied, easygoing style.Robert Parker Wine Advocate (85-87 pts.)*We will notify you on arrival.
