this was a real treat to drink w/o food, slowly, savoring it with friends. maganificent nose and explosive on the tongue, it opens gradually and finishes well and long. heavy floral and woody notes and yet somehow delicate on the palate. a winner
A perfect medium-bodied Bordeaux. Smooth and mellow all the way through.

This has a fine nose, showing some ripe fruit and still marked with nutty oak. There is an awful lot to the palate, starting with a big, structured personality, based on a lot of tannin and fleshy extract. There is a somewhat flashy character to it, but there is a lovely flavour profile on the palate and a rounded, rather pure composition. The balance is perhaps on the edge, but it is a young wine and I do not think it has gone too far. This could be excellent with time. From my tasting of 2005 Bordeaux at two years of age.
A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2005 Carmes Haut Brion, Les 750ml
This jewel of an estate hidden in a beautiful park (with a swan-filled lake), just behind Haut-Brion, has produced the finest Les Carmes since the 1998 and 2000. The 2005's huge, fragrant nose of spring flowers, blue and red fruits, cedar, and wet rocks soars from the glass. While not a powerful blockbuster, this medium-bodied wines terrific intensity, fruit purity, elegance, delicacy, and long persistent finish suggest it will be at its finest between 2011-2025. A liqueur of elegance and grace.
