Château Léoville las Cases Red Bordeaux Blend St. Julien 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

Parker review: 'A wine of great intensity and purity (what's new?), this blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19.5% Merlot, and 11.5% Cabernet Franc boasts a thick purple color in addition to an extraordinary classic Las Cases bouquet of graphite, licorice, and sweet black cherries intermixed with currant and a hint of vanilla. The 2001 is a bit firmer, with higher acidity analytically than the 2000, and the tannin seemingly more in evidence. Nevertheless, this is a relatively large-scaled, dense, backward, concentrated offering that should prove to be one of the candidates for wine of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2030.' 92-94/100 pts. (Robert Parker - Wine Advocate - Apr-2003)

Plummy, raisiny nose, surprisingly youthful for it's age, fruitcake flavours. Now mature, ideal for simple roasts. Available to purchase in the UK via M&S £11.99

Amazing, classic Bordeaux. I probably drank this one too early, but it was worth it. Superb.

This is very floral and perfumed with lots of violets, roses and berries. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a racy finish. Superfresh and long. Focused and clean. Best after 2010. -JS Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2001 Leoville-Las Cases 750ml

Jean-Hubert Delon thinks the 2001 Leoville Las Cases could turn out to be as good as his 2000. Im not sure I agree, but it may come close. A blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19.5% Merlot, and the rest ... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2001 Leoville-Las Cases 750ml

Like many of the great wines of the world, this is a rare wine, and only available in small quantities.
