Château Leoville Barton St. Julien Depressed Cork 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: This year Lilian Barton-Sartorius welcomed our team with the excellent news
that her dog had finally kicked its alcohol dependency; an affliction that had
proved a considerable hindrance to our tasting the previous year.
Leoville-Barton has produced another truly superb wine in 2001. With pure,
spicy fruit in perfect harmony with creamy oak and ripe tannins, this
tautly-structured wine is Claret at its very best.

Good full ruby-red. Black cherry, cassis and minerals on the nose. As fine-grained as the 2001, but with deeper, more chocolatey flavors of cassis, black cherry, licorice and minerals, nicely framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes impressively long, ... ($33-$40) Saturated, bright medium ruby. Crystallized black raspberry, black cherry, leather, spices and dark chocolate on the slightly medicinal nose. Sweet and supple, with lovely black fruit, oak and chocolate flavors firmed by an edge of acidity.... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. Terrific aromas to this wine, with violets, spices, cinnamon and berries. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a lovely ripe fruit and vanilla aftertaste. Very integrated and refined. Shows class. Langoa is very underrated. Another winner from the Bar... Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2001 Langoa Barton 750ml
