($33-$40) Saturated, bright medium ruby. Crystallized black raspberry, black cherry, leather, spices and dark chocolate on the slightly medicinal nose. Sweet and supple, with lovely black fruit, oak and chocolate flavors firmed by an edge of acidity.... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: This year Lilian Barton-Sartorius welcomed our team with the excellent news
that her dog had finally kicked its alcohol dependency; an affliction that had
proved a considerable hindrance to our tasting the previous year.
Leoville-Barton has produced another truly superb wine in 2001. With pure,
spicy fruit in perfect harmony with creamy oak and ripe tannins, this
tautly-structured wine is Claret at its very best.
