Chateau Leoville Barton St Julien 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"Leoville Barton's 2011 is head and shoulders above its sister offering, Langoa Barton. Although not as backward as I expected given the general style that emerges from Anthony Barton's beloved estate, this wine will need time in the bottle once it is released in several years. An opaque purple color is followed by aromas of damp earth, underbrush, black currants, cedar and hints of vanillin and incense. Medium to full-bodied and moderately tannic with good acidity as well as excellent delineation and purity. it should be forgotten for 4-5 years, and drunk over the following two decades." Robert Parker Wine Advocate (90-92+ pts.)*We will notify you on arrival summer 2014.*

Wow! Elegant, schön ausgebaut und schon beinahe trinkfertig. Schöne Tannine, präsente, leichte Frucht, etwas beerig und vollmundig.

The wine is immensely dark, powered by black plum and a ripe, complex structure. Already, the elements are molding into place. Expect great things of this wine. - R.V. Wine Enthusiast. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Leoville-Barton 3000ml

This is dense with a lovely blueberry and mineral character. Full body, with silky tannins and a long finish. It is dense and very pretty. Well done. James Suckling. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Langoa Barton 1500ml

There are now 47 ha of vineyards at Chateau Léoville-Barton, owned by the Anglo-Irish Barton family since 1821. The vineyards lie close to the Gironde, sandwiched between the water and Chateau Talbot. They have a typical St Julien terroir of gravelly soils over deeper clay. The vines are 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, the remainder being 20% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, reflecting the classic, Cabernet-dominated wine produced here by estate manager Michel Raoult together with Anthony Barton and his daughter, Lilian. Grapes : Cabernet Sauvignon 72%, Merlot 20%, Cabernet Franc 8% Region : France / Bordeaux / Saint Julien AOC Maker : Michel Raoult Notes : A perfumed and bright nose with a direct style of fruit. Well-formed fruits, with only the faintest hint of oak. The palate fruit is supple, the texture harmonious, with grainy tannins and a fine, bright acidity which give the wine lovely shape and definition. Serve : At 14 - 16 deg C with hearty red meats, game and stews. ABV : 13%

The Leoville Barton has a very elegant bouquet that takes time to unfurl. There are lovely notes of blackberry, dark plum and a touch of graphite. It unfurls beautifully if you lend it five minutes. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannins,... Neal Martins Wine Journal. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Leoville-Barton 6000ml
