Mitjavile's 1988 is extraordinary, and, once again, superconcentrated, with a dazzling level of extract, and a powerful, full-bodied, concentrated finish. It is less flashy and unctuous than the 1989, and those who like their Bordeaux a bit more linear and obviously tannic may prefer the 1988. It is a spectacular, riveting wine from one of the most driven winemakers in the world. I know the wine has now become hard to find, but producers like this deserve consumers' support, even allegiance.
