Château Latour(2001)
Since the vintage 1990, this generic Pauillac is released each year, with the same selection objectives, and as a result often made out of the young vines from the three plots situated outside the Grand Enclos.
VINTAGE
The tastings that followed confirmed that the 2001 vintage is a homogeneous mixture of the characteristics of the past vintages of Château Latour. It resembles :

- ($120-$179) Deep red-ruby. Enticing aromas of roasted plum, currant, graphite and smoky oak. Precise, spicy and juicy; more herbal than the 2002 or 2003 but also very intensely flavored and not at all hard. This very long, pure Latour seems to be shutting down today.

- Lean and aromatic. Gentle texture, but drink soon! Quite light. Very easy. No rough edges. Light and slightly short. This third wine from the first growth, rarely seen on the market, unusually contains as much as 25 per cent press wine this year, apparently.
