User Reviews for Château Lascombes Red Bordeaux Blend Margaux
Add your review50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot 93 RP I sat it out for an hour in my glass before drinking. I tasted it before and after the breathing. After it sat, it lost the faint bitter aftertaste that i previously tasted. However, the slight sourish taste in the beginning was still there - so probably still too young. I do enjoy the fruit - blackberries, not-quite-ripe cherries, also had some licorice, tobacco and slight oak. Nice 'pucker-up' tannins and a finish that is sooooo long. Can't wait to pop it open in a few more years. Maybe pop one of my remaining 4 in 2009.

93 Points - Wine Advocate Another brilliant effort from this estate, the 2004 Lascombes (a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot) exhibits a deep blue/purple hue along with a sweet perfume of blueberries, black raspberries, cherries, incense, smoke, and spring flowers. While opulent, underneath the full-bodied richness of fruit and depth is a structured wine. As it sits in the glass, an espresso roast character (no doubt from new oak) also emerges. Enjoy this pure, structured, fleshy beauty between 2010-2025. -Robert Parker, Issue #171, June 2007
This is an impressive wine from the moment it is poured into the glass: the wine is so thick and inky purple there is almost no rim between where the core ends and where the glass begins. The faintest flecks of pink bring out the very edge of the win... Mike Supple. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2004 Lascombes 1500ml
Chateau Lascombes is ranked in the Deuxieme (second) tier of the Medoc 1855 Classification. Always a top quality Margaux wine, the winemaking is now being handled by Alain Raynaud and Michel Rolland who have turned it into one of the best Bordeaux in the world. Robert Parker scored it 94 and said of this 2004 "this beauty may be the finest Lascombes yet produced." Opulent and full-bodied with blackberries, bluberries, smoky notes and minerally graphite hints. Will continue to improve in your cellar for 10 or more years. In a recent write-up on Robert Parker's website, a blind tasting for the Executive Wine Seminars is recounted where 2004 Chateau Lascombes beat all other 2004 Classifed Bordeaux challengers for best wine of the tasting. Defeated wines included Chateau Latour, Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, Chateau Palmer, Chateau Cos D'Estourmelle, Chateau L'Evangille, Chateau Pavie and several more. not sponsored by or affiliated with The Wine Spectator or The Wine Advocate This item excluded from XTYPAK and any other discounts or offers beyond the 15% case discount.

Enjoy this pure, structured, fleshy beauty between 2010-2025. Good bright ruby. Wild aromas and flavors of blackberry, coffee, mocha, chocolate and game. Sweet, dense and lush but with plenty of acidity giving the wine shape and structure. Quite concentrated for 2004: offers a very broad mouth feel without coming across as heavy. Finishes with horizontal, toothcoating tannins. An impressive showing. Intense aromas of crushed berries and tea follow through to a full-bodied palate, with chewy tannins and a light herb and berry character. Slightly hollow midpalate and a bit overextracted. Best after 2009. 24,665 cases made. -JS ** Only 2 in Stock **
