Chateau Larrivaux 2016

Member Review by zufrieden:

This amazing 2016 Bordeaux vintage just keeps rolling along! The 2016 Larrivaux is pure Haut-Medoc; the scent of this wine is wonderful, with blackberry and cassis dominating. A pure wine with entry of tannic blackberry, this product is ready for drinking although it may last up to 5 years in the bottle. Buttery smooth. A fantastic buy. 91.

Light wine. A little thin. Got better after a few hours.

I enjoyed this much more than the other reviewers. At first taste this is a bit thin.... but is very smooth. After a bit of time open the fruit is very evident. Mostly bright red fruit and hints of prunes in the mid palate. The finish isn't overly long but is pleasant. I picked this bottle up for $6.00 at Costco and this is by far the best $6 wine I have ever had.

Overripe, highly extracted fruit, yet somehow thin and watery. I wasnt really a fan of this. Lean with lots of minerality, but it was the licorice and medicinal finish that turned me off. Good acidity would help it pair with food, but its still got a tart finish.

I bought a half case from Costco at $14.99 per bottle. Heavy tanin taste and very acidic. I let two bottles breath for an extended period of time. Don't waster your money.

Not overly complex but very balanced. Medium tannins. Dark fruits on the nose with a slight earthy note. Lush fruit on the palate. Easy drinking and a great value for the price.

Another sleeper of the vintage, this elegant 2010 offers up notes of cedar, loamy soil, black currants and black cherries. Medium-bodied and complex already with supple tannins as well as a nicely layered mouthfeel and finish, it should be consumed o... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. 49%, merlot, 41% cabernet sauvignon, 6%, cabernet franc, 4% petit verdot. Perfumed crushed flowers, blackberry and spice fill the nose, along with underlying notes of earth and mineral. Bordeaux wines of the Cru Bourgeois classification have been having a definition crisis recently. Whether andldquo;Exceptionnelandrdquo; or andldquo;Superieur, andrdquo; this classification was outlawed last year andmdash; but only after some producers had already started bottling and distributing this 2005 vintage. As you can see from the label, this wine was one of those that got through. It has a deep crimson color with notes of charcoal, pepper, oak and cherry on the nose, a medium body, and a long earthy and herbal finish. Luckily, the andldquo;Cru Bourgeoisandrdquo; classification will apparently be making a comeback, but with higher standards of quality to be followed. Itandrsquo;s hard to imagine what will come next from them if this fantastic wine was created with what are now to be considered lower-quality standards. For now, I guess will just have to drink this great wine and wonder.

Sweet, fleshy, oaky nose. Black cherries, blackberries. Supple, almost lush, though tannins are a touch green and hard. From 2010.

This lower pedigree wine represents undeniable quality/value rapport in 2005. This vintage is so deep in quality among the better run, less heralded estates, that these wines should appeal to readers looking for terrific values from Bordeaux. Most of these wines are Merlot-based and will be drinkable young. Sleeper of the vintage.

This vintage is filled with great quality wines and a wine like this offers greater value. More approachable too on the palate since it's based on the Merlot grape.
