Château Lamothe Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Sauternes 2005
Started out quite dark and liquorice-dominated, becoming softer as it breathed a little. Blackberry, leather and some cough-medicine-like notes. A good wine, but not a great wine as it is a bit lacking in length.
Beautiful deep gold color. Palate on the nose is not too intensive, very fruity with flavors of pear, exotic fruits and a bit of herbal (grass) aroma. In mouth, the wine is quite round, silky and a little sweet, but dry. Strong fruitiness and tender sourness make it a delicate white wine with light body. Specially recommended for hot summer days.
Intense, fruity, structured, delicately wooded, this is an excellent wine that can be kept in cellar a few more years or be drunk now. For less than 10$, it is a great deal I order online on the website ( in French) www.chateaulamothe.com
