Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Tightly knit, oaky and rich, with formidable concentration, but broodingly backward and not showing the charm and concentration of the top wines of St.-Julien, this 2009 from Lagrange is still an outstanding effort that has length, richness and chara... Already well-known in the middle Ages under the name of Maison Noble de Lagrange Monteil, Chateau Lagrange is located in the Saint-Julien appellation. The estate currently covers 157 hectares of land, of which 115 are under vine, in a single block. The vineyard is planted on two Gunzian gravel rises. Production methods combine the best of traditional and modern methods. Vine density per hectare is high and the soil is cultivated in the classic Medoc manner. The grapes are handpicked and sorted prior to crushing. Traditional Bordeaux winemaking procedures are used and fermentation lakes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is aged in oak barrels (of which 60% are new every year) in an air conditioned cellar.

Winemaker's Notes:

Blackberry, chocolate, and cedar notes with light hints of spices. It's medium bodied but very tannic at this point. Medium long finish.
