Food Pairings for Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac
Intense color with hints of violet. Nose is dominated by fresh fruit aromas (redcurrant, raspberry) and fruit drops (banana). A balanced, open wine with good flavour, a nice fruity “bite” on the palate and good freshness on the finish. 2008 was the smallest harvest brought into the cellars since the frost of 1991- 20% less than the already small 2007 harvest. After early budburst, the vines were subject to late frosts which wiped out part of the crop in many vineyards. Just as in 2007, the 2008 vintage was saved by very favourable dry and sunny weather in September and October. It is a very good vintage, probably better than 2006 and 2007, even if it is far from being homogenous; the best 2008 wines have levels of fruit and freshness rarely equalled.
