Chateau Lafayette Reneau purchases the most oak barrels of any winery in the Finger Lakes area. Winemaker Tim Miller utilizes Missouri oak in the creation of the barrel fermented Chardonnay. This imparts a full, yet smoother mouthfeel. With toasty oak and citrus fruit flavors, this is sure to be one of your favorite chardonnays.

One of their best is the Barrel Fermented Chardonnay, a wonderful expression of the classic grape of Burgundy and California, yet grown only a couple of hours away in Hector, New York. The 1998 vintage offers up vanilla, Bartlett pear and a delicate touch of citrus fruit, balanced with a bit of sweet oak. Try this wine and have yet another reason to ldquo;Uncork New York.rdquo;
A smooth, gentle chardonnay with the appeal of relatively low alcohol, this offers the buttery richness people have come to expect from the variety, while adding some dimension with austere flavors of the soil. Match its light rasp to veal sauteacute;ed with oyster mushrooms.

The nose of this wine has an underlying hint of vanilla and caramel from the oak that it was exposed to during fermentation. In the mouth, the oak perfectly matches the tropical fruit and hints of apple, as well as the spiciness.
Starts off with lovely aromas of baked apples and vanilla. The same flavors flow through on the palate along with butterscotch and toasted almonds. Enjoy this wine with grilled swordfish and green beans almondine.
