Château Labegorce Margaux 2017

Member Review by zufrieden:

This Margaux has a nice scent of candied cherry and plum with a touch of cedar as well. On the palate, there is some fruit density but less than in exceptional years... with good tannin, however, indicating structure. Can be held for 3-5 more years if desired. 88 points.

Dark color - closed nose of black cherries. Simple on the palate with dark fruit, spice and some wood. Very drying. Ok finish.

Decent, but will probably improve more with age.

Tasted December 2007: Deeply coloured, still monolithic nose which needs a lot of air to show some fruit and a whiff of violets. In the mouth cool and a bit foursquare for a Margaux of a great vintage, but substantial and with a lot of strength. Still young and unevolved, the aftertaste has loads of tannin and not yet entirely integrated oak. I wonder whether this wine will ever become soft and elegant; if it does, it could deserve 4 stars in the future. Do not open before 2010.

Pretty plummy. Currant aromas follow through to a full-bodied palate, with chewy tannins and a long persistent finish. Structured. Very well done from this estate. Barrel Tasted Score range: 89-91 -JS This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot is a soft, round, medium to full-bodied wine with lots of earthy black cherry and black currant fruit as well as some background oak and earth undertones. The wine has pleasant, soft tannins and is ideal for drinking over the next 7-8 years.

Firm, with blackberry, cedar and sweet tobacco character. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long, slightly chewy finish. Best after 2012. 11,110 cases made. -JS

The 2003 vintage is the fruit of an atypical year. Lots of sun and lower yields are the reason for its richness and its concentration. The color is lively and on the nose, full-bodied. The palate, on the other hand, reveals itself in a very delicate and refined fashion. Fine wood, associated with the aromas of youngness, matches remarkably well. Great subtlely and a fine Margaux typicity. - Winery
