Château la Tour de Mons Margaux 2017

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £12 from the website www.cellartrade.co.uk. Margaux is an appellation created ion 1938,although there has been viticulture here since the Romans, for red wines from 5 communes around the village of that name on the eastern side of the Medoc peninsular about 15 miles north of the City of Bordeaux. It is the home of 21 Cru Classe in the 1855 classification but Chateau La Tour de Mons is not one of them but is a Cru Bourgeois estate. My bottle consists of 55% merlot,35% cabernet sauvignon and 5% petit verdot and spent 12 months in oak barrels.I started my bottle last night with my supper of roast pork There is plenty of a fresh blackcurrant, plum and vanilla style fruit with some soft but smooth and well structured tannins. In short, this is a lovely wine that would pair with many foods
