Editorial Reviews for Château la Tour Carnet Red Bordeaux Blend Haut-Médoc
Raw wood, woodsy, balsam on the nose, tight and foursquare in the mouth, ungenerous, dry, hard, lean finish, tight little bugger should improve (tentatively (85-86)
Typical ruby-red color at adolescence. Appears early-maturing - perhaps fully decked out by 2012. Beautiful red fruit dominance on the nose due, no doubt to the high percentage of Merlot (for an Haut-Medoc). A bit lean consistent with the vintage with very soft, approachable tannins and drinking very well now. Quite delicious and perhaps a bit underrated. The Merlot frame was likely a good thing given the vintage - a bit more like a right bank number than like neighbors on the Rive Gauche. Decent quality if lacking some stuffing mid-palate.
for 2007, I like this wine. I believe the wine has the highest amount of Merlot to come from its current owner as of yet, about 71%. The wine is very firm, and has a fair amount of woodsy oak and rich fruit, yet retains a finesse. I was able to taste this wine at the des union grand crus de bordeaux tasting. It was caught my attention. This wine does need some time, and I think it will be a nice one.
Beautiful wine here. Nose of oak, dark fruits ,tar and then red cherry fruits. Firm tannins and yet delicious, this wine is predominantly a merlot blend, and has the goods to age. Give it 4+ hours of air if consuming early. This wine is well balanced but needs time, as it is a bit firm in its present state. Very well crafted juice, and a wine that drinks like a solid 2nd growth from Pauillac or St. Julian region. Oui!
Very nice, especially once it has had a chance to open up in the glass or decanter.
A mellifluous decadent tour de force. Nah half bad;-)
