Robert Parker 93 Points Wine Specatator 92 Points Subtle aromas of honey, lemon peel, cream, vanilla and apple pie follow through to a thick palate, with lots of sweetness. There's also loads of clove and other spices. Not as exciting as from barrel, but still outstanding. Best after 2011. 2,915 cases made. –JS International Wine Cellar 91 Points Yellow-gold color. Sexy aromas of ripe apricot, pear, honey and nutty oak show a distinctly exotic side. Then supersweet and concentrated on the palate, showing more sheer sweetness and power than any particular flavor component. Almost sugary on the finish, but long and quite unevolved. Today this gives the impression of being a wine with too much of everything: I'd lay it down for a decade.

Drinking wine pretty frequently for avg. standards, by any means, for about a year, and starting to try some Bordeaux.........I notice why American Merlot is frowned upon to an extent, when it's compared to Merlot around the world, specifically from Saint Emilion. Merlot is nothing like Cabernet Sauv. rather it tends to pack a punch in my opinion more in the mid-palate. Merlot flavors are more elusive therefore more subtle therefore, more elegant. This particular wine eventhough from the legendary 2005 vintage lacks something that I don't think even time will provide. Delicious for what it is. Great entry level price for Bourdeaux, but scratching the potential of what the prestige is all about.

Winemaker's Notes:

Berry Bros & Rudd review: This is a luxurious opulent Tour Blanche, one of the stars of the vintage with
a singing 147g of residual sugar - full yellow in colour, with a ripe, rich
botrytis bouquet, thickly textured on the palate, beautifully sensuous and
exceptionally long. A star performance.

This Intense, deep garnet Bordeaux is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon has a smooth upfront, powerful and rich flavor.Best if consumed between 2010 and 2017, with barbecue or casserole.
