Chateau La Tour Blanche is situated in the heart of The Sauternes Appellation. About 40 km south of Bordeaux, this appellation covers nearly 2100 hectares and encompasses the five villages of Barsac, Bommes, Fargues, Preignac and Sauternes.. The merging of The River Garonne and its colder tributary The Ciron creates a microclimate which accounts for the autumnal climate of early morning mists followed by bright sunny days. Consequently, botrytis cinerea, a microscopic fungus, finds itself in ideal conditions to develop on the grape berries causing an evaporation of the berries' water content. This phenomenon is known as Noble Rot ("Pourriture Noble"). Read less

Very lemony nose. Lemon, citrus and acid on the palate. A bit simple as a wine, but well-made.

Drinking wine pretty frequently for avg. standards, by any means, for about a year, and starting to try some Bordeaux.........I notice why American Merlot is frowned upon to an extent, when it's compared to Merlot around the world, specifically from Saint Emilion. Merlot is nothing like Cabernet Sauv. rather it tends to pack a punch in my opinion more in the mid-palate. Merlot flavors are more elusive therefore more subtle therefore, more elegant. This particular wine eventhough from the legendary 2005 vintage lacks something that I don't think even time will provide. Delicious for what it is. Great entry level price for Bourdeaux, but scratching the potential of what the prestige is all about.

The first sauternes I had, and the beginning of a new obsession. Still the best I've had - golden color, honey sweet, thick and chewy in the mouth, perfect with bread and a stronger cheese.

Gorgeous apricot ginger green fig and honey flavors show lots of density with a sweet rich finish. A big one in the making. -J.M. Wine Spectator.

The Chateau La Tour Blanche has a complex bouquet with scents of grapefruit honey apricot and white flowers. The palate is very well-balanced with a great sense of tension and poise and notes of citrus lemon lime dried honey and a touch of marmalade that lead to a tightly wound focused almost Germanic finish. This is intriguing Sauternes that should repay considerable cellaring. -Neal Martin Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Green and coconut on the nose. Streaky green and massively sweet with the pear juice quality of botrytis. Dense and rich. A bit jagged. Very very young. RS 130 g/l TA 3.9 g/l. 17+ out of 20 Jancis Robinson.

80% semillon 15% sauvignon blanc 5% muscadet. Aged for 16-18 months in stainless steel and new oak. Full and enticing on entry yet maintains refreshing balance and subtlety. This will be a long-lived wine and will benefit from several years of aging. Eddie Wolowski.
