Château la Nerthe Red Rhone Blend Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée des Cadettes 2000

Winemaker's Notes:

The "Cuvée des Cadettes" was the name originally given to one of Château la Nerthe's cuvées by Commandant Ducos and which was reintroduced in 1986. The name comes from a very old parcel of the vineyard. Included in this cuvée are Grenaches from century-old vines, old Mourvèdres and old Syrahs, all vinified together in a wood pigeage tank. The maturing takes place exclusively in new barrels. Blending • Grenache 47 % • Mourvèdre 17 % • Syrah 36 % Vinification 18 days in pigeage tanks for 71% Matured 100 % in barrels for 18 months

Château La Nerthe is the oldest producer in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, producing wine since 1560. The winery has been certified organic since 1998, and is among the region’s top five wineries. La Nerthe is a leader in the art of blending, combining up to 13 varieties - so that no one dominates.

Chateau la Nerthe 2000 Chateauneuf- du –Pape Drank 10/09/11 11 years old decanted for 5 hours before drinking. Cool dark fruit in the mouth and on the nose, No great sign of age the wine is still young and quite solid.
