Château la Mission Haut-Brion Red Bordeaux Blend Pessac-Léognan 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

With only 36% of the crop making it into the Grand Vin in 2007, there is 25%less of this wonderfully silky La Mission than in 2006. Made from a higher thannormal 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot (the same as Haut-Brion) and 9%Cabernet Franc, it is wonderfully aromatic with exuberant yet elegant blackcherry and dark chocolate on the nose. Beautifully-balanced, spicy plum andcassis fruit sits alongside coffee, tobacco and minerals on the palate, supported by fine, supple tannins. This remarkably intense, structured, feminine wine looks set to be one of the sleeping giants of 2007.

This delicate bitterness is somewhat reminiscent of crystallized cherry-stones seeped in spirit. It is certainly a penchant for revealing all its qualities at once that distinguishes the wines of La Mission and pleases a lot of tasters. It is also the consummate expression of the land of the Graves of Pessac. When maturing, this wine is still generous, openly proffering all its qualities. This hedonistic side is one of its most attractive particularities. Read less
