...Deeply pitched aromas of roasted stones, raspberry, cherry, plum, licorice and menthol. A step up in sweetness and complexity from the young 99: round and full but shapely and solidly built. Finishes with lush, very fine tannins nicely supported ... Stephen Tanzers IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 1998 Mission Haut Brion, La 750ml

Winemaker's Notes:

About 1998 Bordeaux: Very rainy month of April. This characteristic proved remarkably useful as the month of May was dry, June normal, July normal largely due to two days of storms with very heavy rain. August was one of the driest on record and in September the downpours only began after September 25th. Chateau tasting notes This wine has a handsome color of deep, fresh, ruby red. The nose is not completely open due to the great structure of its tannins. The equilibrium of the wine is remarkable with mature fruit already evident. Its emerging strength, though only slightly developed, indeed insinuates the richness to come. This is a great bottle in the making. The finale is suave, soft and tannic all at the same time. It is an exceptional bottle for its density.
