La Lagune 2015
93-94 Points, James Suckling: "The finesse and beauty in this wine is really something with blueberry, blackberry and licorice character. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a long and gorgeous finish. Tactile and fine." 4/16 Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2015 La Lagune is an absolutely delightful Haut-Médoc with forward fruit, lovely juiciness and tons of personality. Sweet tobacco, cedar, menthol, red cherry and earthy notes abound in this expressive, highly nuanced wine." 4/16 Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 La Lagune has a rich and slightly heady bouquet with lavish black cherry and cassis fruit that need to obtain more definition and composure. This seems to be trying a little hard. The palate is ripe and rounded on the entry, the tannin here a little stringy with a straightforward, slightly attenuated and saline finish that I hope will flesh out during élevage. This just lacks the sparkle that I discerned in the 2014 last year - let's see how it turns out in bottle." 4/16

Editorial Reviews for La Lagune
Smoky, oaky, and deeply aromatic showing some smoldering herbal and faint black currant complexity. Open on entry, and while not terribly complex, this is fresh and bright with gently austere tannins. Showing a bit of nuance on the backend, then finishing with great freshness and purity of fruit, this is lovely. Not an imposing wine but seductive. 90pts
Green tobacco, green peppercorn, fine oak, slightly jammy red currant/red raspberry fruit – smooth in the mouth but flat with a veneer of fruit over toasty oak, quite mocha/coffee toned, a bit hard and ungenerous (85-86)
Four and a half glasses
Dark fruit, pepper, clove, oak and smoke on the nose with robust blackberry, dark cherry, vanilla cream, black pepper and a hint of mint on the palate. The finish is sweetish and long. This needs to breath and was best after an hour or so in the decanter. This wine is well put together and is best with food but sipped well.
This is my go to everyday red. Consistant quality for a great price. Only problem is I am on the east coast and need to buy direct from the winery.
Smoky nose with hints of anise. Sweet currant and black fruit on the palate. Some of the anise from the nose too. A very strong effort from La Lagune.
. I experienced some sample variation with the 2011 La Lagune, but it appears to be outstanding, and one of the better efforts of the vintage. A dark plum/ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of dense, rich black raspberries, black currants, loamy s... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. What a lovely texture to the wine with super soft and supple tannins and blackberry and currant character. Round and juicy. One of the softest and most supple 2010s. It tastes more like a 2009 in style. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon 40% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. James Suckling.
This is tangy with red currant roasted mesquite sanguine and tobacco notes. Already shows range and definition with solid grip. -J.M. Wine Spectator.
