A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2005 Lagune, La 750ml

This estate was established in the 17th century and is one of the most southerly of the classed growth estates. These wines are big, tannic, and masculine, mostly made from Cabernet Sauvignon. Toasted plum and vanilla notes shine on the palate.

Winemaker's Notes:

Wow, has La Lagune ever tasted as good as this? A groundbreaking château over
the years - it was the first Cru Classé estate to install a woman, the late
Jeanne Boyrie, as manager in 1964 - recently its wines have returned to their
rightful place amongst the best in the region.

Its glorious 2005 has soft, sweet, ripe blackcurrant and black cherry fruit
which blossoms within a lovely fragrant Margaux-style freshness and racy
acidity. With lovely concentration, elegance and poise this should be a
terrific bargain and looks sure to rival if not surpass their fabulous 1982.
BBR Score: 17/20. Robert Parker: 92-94/100.
