Château la Gurgue Red Bordeaux Blend Margaux 2001
This estate is Château Margaux‘s neighbor. It belonged to a rich banker named PEIXOTTO. The property then was transmitted to the LANOIRE family. In 1979, the MERLAUT family takes over the estate and puts Bernadette VILLARS, owner of Château Chasse-Spleen as manager. She pulls La Gurgue up to a high quality level. Her team replants and takes care of the vineyard which was in very bad condition, in order to reveal its exceptional terroir. In 1988, 50 great tasters, gathered for « The essay on the Margaux style » rank it as one of Margaux top ten typical wines, featuring eight growth and one Cru Bourgeois.
