Chateau la Fleur de Bouard 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

From Hubert de Bouard of Chateau Angelus! "Hubert de Bouard's reference point estate in Lalande de Pomerol continues to produce wines that are truly revelations of what can be accomplished in this appellation. His 2004 La Fleur de Bouard (80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc as well as a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon) is a fabulous sleeper of the vintage. Its deep ruby/purple hue is followed by scents of cassis, blackberries, smoke, licorice, and background new oak. Medium to full-bodied with fabulous fruit, supple tannin, and low acidity, it should be enjoyed over the next 7-10 years."

The La Fleur de Boüard vineyard combines the magic of land, vines and sky. This 25 hectare estate [ originally called 'Chateau la fleur St Georges', a name now used for the second wine ] was bought by Hubert de Bouard de Laforest and his wife Corrine in 1998.He is also part-owner of Chateau Angelus in Saint Emilion [which he upgraded to Premier Grand Cru Classe in 1996] and has interests in other Bordeauix properties. He is a man of great viticultural tradition, whose family have carefully fine-tuned their viticultural thinking and savoir-faire with innovation and commitment over seven generations, an exciting new future now awaits this vineyard.
