Editorial Reviews for Château la Dominique Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru
Smoky, exotic herbs, woody, violets, cinnamon red hots and honey comb – a bit extracted feeling in the mouth, dry uncovered tannins, hard small bright fruit, lean, short and hard (81-82)
A lovely bottle that offers up a full array of herb, creosote, plum cocoa, and coffee notes on both the nose and the palate. While the wine has lost some flesh since I last tried it it remains vibrant and round with an easy drinking balance yet traditional flavor profile that should please a broad range of consumers. 2009-2016 91pts
Opens nicely with it's minerally nose offering up typical notes of espresso foam and fertile soil marred slightly by a bit of shoe polish. Noticably oak spiced with lots of tart plum and cocoa. Big rich and round with it's inviting flavors of plum and cocoa couched in a soft, plump texture. While drinking well this bottle didn't come close to the heights achieved by previous bottles. 2007-2015
Three and a half glasses
Ripe berry aromas. Light cherry and licorice and a bright acidity. Flavors of cola and berry and licorice and eucalyptus and dusty candy.
Meaty nose with hints of veal stock and blue cheese. Spicy rhubarb flavor with a touch of peaches.
A clearly licorice nose, that unfolds into an incredibly earthy, mineral wine. Very strong silex and other crisp glassy clear minerality.
Four and a half glasses
Very good. Appears to be aging nicely.

Grand Cru Classe Located on the western side of the Saint- Emilion, on the edge of the Pomerol appellation, the property takes its name from the Caribbean island where the owner at that time made his fortune. It features in the first editions of "Bordeaux and its Wines". Its hectare vineyards consist of 25% of deep gravel and 75% of gravely ancient sands on a clay sub-layer. The works in the vineyards and in the cellars are accomplished with the permanent concern to respect and to express the high class quality of this exceptional terroir. The harvest takes benefit of a double sorting. The grapes are then driven on a conveyor in the tanks. The valroom is composed of 22 stainless steel vats of small capacity - 60 to 100 hectoliters - to achieve a work totally per parcel. After 15 to 18 months of ageing, the final blend is agreed, then the wine is fined with white eggs before bottling. Wines at Chateau La Dominique harmoniously combine a lavish fruit, a long and full-bodied structure,
