Chateau la Croix Mouton Bordeaux Superieur 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

"A *big-time sleeper in this vintage*, this dense purple wine from Jean-Philippe Janoueix over-delivers for its humble pedigree. A blend of 86% Merlot and the rest mostly Cabernet Franc, it is a surprisingly big wine (over 14% alcohol) with notes of smoky barbecue, kirsch, blackberries, coffee and cassis. Luscious tannins, low acidity and a textured, multi-dimensional mouthfeel make for an impressive Bordeaux Superieur. Drink it over the next 3-5 years." --Robert Parker*Robert Parker rated: 90 pts.*

A hint of damson fruit and plum on the nose - somewhat dumb or lacking a fresh fruit expression. Robe a deep cherry red. Entry is smooth with little tannin evident, mildly plummy with a fairly forward dill. Finishes smoothly and effects are of short to medium length. Not for the cellar but a lovely introduction to the heady 2009 vintage. Juicy and tasty...appears to be almost entirely Merlot. 88 points.
