What to Expect

Arguably the most renowned wines on earth, the classed growths of Bordeaux continue to epitomize the power and complexity Bordeaux blends are capable of. While most wines here are based on Cabernet Sauvignon, both Merlot and Cabernet Franc play important roles in adding layered complexity to the finished wines, and allow winemakers in each commune within the region to use the blend that is best suited to their unique combination of soil and meso-climate. The most famous communes each have their own classic traits with St. Estephe giving full, if rustic wines, from the heavy clay soils, to Paulliac's elegant balance of ripe fruits, minerality and structure to St. Julien's rich blackberry core and supple feel. Moving to the South of the region brings one to Margaux, with its notes of flowers and berries draped over a feminine frame, and then to the Graves region with wines redolent of tobacco, gravel and smoke. To the East lies the famous appellations of St. Emillion, with its wonderfully ripe Cabernet Franc, and Pomerol where Merlot rules the roost and produces deep, plush wines of uncommon refinement.

Winemakers Notes

This wine results from 35% Merlot 10% Frank Cabernet 55% Sauvignon Cabernet.

Each part of the vineyard is vinified seperately and only after the end of the wine making, the assembly is carried out in order to obtain a wine of best quality.

At tasting, this wine presents a red dress intense in ruby. It's essences include the ripe fruits, mixes cherry, blackcurrant and of currant. In mouth, its attack is frank without being aggressive, the tannins are soft and pleasant.

The ripe fruits are present, in particular the blackcurrant and the cherry. The read more...final is rather long and the wine balanced well between acidity and roundness. This wine is the perfect reflection of the heat wave which prevailed in 2003 and which made it possible for the grapes to reach a richness worthy of the great years.

This wine will reach it's full maturity in 2007 and will be able to be preserved for 5 years thereafter without losing it's qualities. Later in it's life decanting is necessary to reach the best tasting.

Because of it's richness, it could be necessary to elutriate (decant) it before the service, to even air it a few moments during it's last years.

In order to better appreciate it's flavours, it is recommended to tast this wine between 17 and 18 degrees Celsius. For your greater pleasure, you will be able to appreciate all his plentitude with a red meat, a poultry, a cheese not too generous. But also with a cod dish or a mushroom omelette.    (hide)
