Château la Begude Gigondas 2005

Member Review by colinrchorley:

Pours a very deep purple, extremely heavy and after an initial sweetness on the tongue the savoury herbal quality of the wine takes over along with hints of tar, dark fruits, licquorice and pepper. This is the first Gigondas I have ever tasted so have no comparison to make with others but my initial reaction wasn't too impressed.

Domaine Begude:
Domaine Begude has a history going back to the 16th century but in 2003 it was bought by Londoners Catherine and James Kinglake. There are 29 hectares under vine grown organically. They produce a range of red ,rose and white still wines mostly under the Vin de Pays label but their flagship chardonnay 'L'Etoile' cuvee is under the Limoux appellation.
