- Earthy and leathery on the nose with an evolving gentle funky tone this offers up sweet oak that is balanced by the very floral Margaux character. Elegant in the mouth and showing great integration at this stage with a midpalate dominated by red currant fruit, soft acidity and sleek tannins. Finishes with a vanillin tinged red berry note of medium length. This has everything that makes for a good 1999, a vintage I am partial to. It is balanced if a touch soft showing admirable restraint allowing for a layered, nuanced character. Just entering it's peak drinking window 2008-2016
