Chateau Jouanin Cotes de Castillon 2015

Member Review by zufrieden:

The 2015 Jouanin is a decent wine for the price. A Cotes de Castillon (the location of the last battle in the 100 Years War of any note), the wine is Merlot dominant with cassis, cherry and a touch of wood (oak) on the nose; the entry (bouche) is fairly tannic, with deep plum and cassis on the palate. Some elegance and aging potential with a fair pucker on the finish, but still quite drinkable now. Slightly lacking in body, but no complaints at this price point. 87-88.

Here is a wine selling for about six euros in France that is well worth trying for those wishing to sample the 2009 vintage in good conscience. A modestly open nose of pomegranate, earth and desert brush. En bouche, there is a soft caress of Merlot with some elegance and some chewy tannin; slightly thin (but not exactly dilute) with a smooth, medium finish. Very good for the price. Stock up if you can. 87 points.
