Château Haut Nadeau Bordeaux Supérieur Réserve du Propriétaire 2005

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

A surprisingly approachable young red, this Bordeaux showcases ripe blueberry and blackberry fruits, a round, full body and soft tannins. The purity of fruit and fresh, vibrancy of the medium-bodied frame give the wine an easy, soft texture with plenty of flavor. A refreshing change from the many tannic monsters of Bordeaux — a red that one can enjoy in the short term.

Wow! If you are interested in a killer value, Château Haut Nadeau is the right way to go! It has an exquisite aroma of jammy plums with a hint of cedar. The flavors reconfirm the nose with over-ripened plums, dark cherries, raspberries and a cedar dusting. It has a slight, delightful tartness with nice acidity. Would go beautiful with a cheese plate, Sirloin Croquettes or grilled garlic turkey sausage.

This lower pedigree wine represents undeniable quality/value rapport in 2005. This vintage is so deep in quality among the better run, less heralded estates, that these wines should appeal to readers looking for terrific values from Bordeaux. Most of these wines are Merlot-based and will be drinkable young. Sleeper of the vintage.

Graceful and mature, this Bordeaux Supandeacute;rieur shows smoke, charcoal, cedar, and balsamic, wrapped around tart cherry fruit and wet leaf earthiness. Nice complexity and sense-of-place at this price point.
