Château Haut Brignon

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought one bottle of Chateau Haut-Brignon 2002 for about five euros on my last visit to Calais. It is from the Premiere Cotes de Bordeaux appellation which is located to the south of Bordeaux close to the town of Cenac.I have discovered that it is made up of 58% merlot and the rest cabernet sauvignon,in other words a usual Bordeaux blend, which has been aged in oak barrels.I have also discovered that in 2006 the wine won a silver medal at the Challenge International du Vin.I drank my bottle a few days ago with my supper of lamb chops and I have to report that it is an absolutely beautiful claret which I would not hesitate to recomend to anyone and far better than I had any right to expect for the price. There is plenty of fruit and the tyannins are soft
