Château Haut-Beauséjour 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

The two St Estèphe properties of Château de Pez and Château Haut-Beauséjour were purchased by Champagne Louis Roederer in 1995 and 1992 respectively. While the Champagne house has always been owned by the same family since its creation, the acquisition of the Bordeaux properties was above all due to Jean-Claude Rouzaud, oenologist and Chairman of Roederer. He has a true love for Bordeaux coupled with a strong desire to make top class wines using his expertise to develop the full potential of the vineyards. The nose is shows a good mix of red and black berry fruits, with a little spiciness and some leather / tobacco notes. The palate shows finesse and elegance and a smooth harmony which makes this wine very approachable even at this young age.

Winery notes: The 2005 vintage is dense in color retaining a purplish-blue hint typical of wines that are slow to develop. The slightly toasty nose has plenty of red- and black- berry fruit and a hint of jamminess mingled with aromas of spice and tobacco. The nose is reminiscent of the 2004 vintage and is what you would expect of a wine made from very ripe grapes.

Plenty of clean fruit, with blackberry and currant. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. —J.S. Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 De Pez 750ml
