Beautiful gold in the glass. Candied apricot, honey and candied citrus peel on the nose. Richly flavored with sweet honey and candied apricot and peach. Rich and pretty. Feels decadent but possesses wonderful acid balance. 4/14/12

The 1989 is extremely disjointed. Although big and rich, it tastes like a glob of sugar, alcohol, and wood. This was a disappointing showing for the 1989. It should gain focus and return to the form predicted for it when it was in barrel. Last tasted 11/94

Ripe and unctuous, but with a deliciously racy orange streak running through the core of creamed pear, fig and green plum flavors. Supercreamy on the finish and very long, with honeysuckle and almond notes echoing on and on. A stunner in the making.-... Wine Spectator. The name of Château Guiraud, 1st growth in the 1855 classification, dates back to 1766, when Bordeaux wine merchant Pierre Guiraud purchased the "the Noble House of Bayle". Château Guiraud, covering over a hundred hectares of vineyards, is renowned for its natural approach to noble rot (excluding chemical herbicides and insecticides, setting of insect houses, 5 km of bushes plantation, genetic diversity, conservatory vine, natural water treatment, organic farming ) and for the finesse of its sweet wines.

65% semillon, 35% sauvignon blanc. 100% new oak. Planted to gravel with clay. Tasted twice with slight variation. One sample was a bit more exuberant and expressive while the second was a bit more closed and tight. Both showed the same great tension ... Geoffrey Binder.
