decent. has the consistency of a burgundy pinot though. almost no tannins.
Beautiful gold in the glass. Candied apricot, honey and candied citrus peel on the nose. Richly flavored with sweet honey and candied apricot and peach. Rich and pretty. Feels decadent but possesses wonderful acid balance. 4/14/12
70-30 Semillion-Sauvignon. Pink grapefruit soft butter texture and fine nutty oak.
Made of Merlot, Cab Sauv, Malbec and Cab Franc. It feels soft and velvety in the mouth. It's an easy drinking wine. Without the heavy tannins, you can pair it with light meats and even some fish dishes. Delicious!
Two and a half glasses
External Reviews for Château Guiraud-Cheval-Blanc Red Bordeaux Blend Côtes de Bourg
Bordeaux’s sweet wines shared the limelight in the region’s legendary 2005 vintage. many châteaus, like Guiraud, long under the direction of Xavier Planty, produced their best wine ever. During the harvest, grape pickers passed painstakingly through the estate’s 210 acres of 35-year-old Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc vineyards, selecting only grapes affected by botrytis. By the harvest’s end, each acre yielded only enough grapes for 54 cases of wine, with about 20 percent of that set aside for the estate’s second label.
Seething with power, there’s baritone richness to this wine’s complex fruit, a deeper tone to the surface of honey and citrus. It feels clean, fresh and bright, the structure holding the wine’s complexity tight for now, waiting to release it with age.
Typical of the huge power of Guiraud, this is one of the richest Sauternes in 2005. The wine is rich and intense, the dry edge of botrytis just dominating the sweetness. Flavors of honey, almonds and peaches give the wine extra complexity Wine Enthusiast. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2005 Guiraud 375ml

#4 Wine of the Top 100 of 2008 Delivers lots of botrytis spice, with lemon tart and cooked apple. Full-bodied, with loads of cream and vanilla and an intense tropical fruit and honey aftertaste. Long and viscous, with a layered and beautiful spicy finish. Hard not to drink it now. Best after 2014.

Full golden-yellow. Orange oil, clove, ginger, mint and minerals on the perfumed, vibrant noise. Superrich but juicy and vibrant, with an exotic hint to the fresh apricot and peach flavors. This boasts an exhilarating sugar/acid balance and finishes ... Stephen Tanzer. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2005 Guiraud 750ml
